Job summary

ISD 200 Hastings High School is seeking a Paraprofessional/Pupil Support Assistant for its SPED program. The role focuses on supporting students academically, emotionally and behaviorally in a center-based setting.

Work hours are 6.25 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch for the 2026-2027 school year, with potential schedule adjustments in following years. Candidate will assist teachers, collect data, and implement district procedures.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following requirements: two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits) through an accredited institution, or an associates or higher degree with qualifying coursework, or a passing score on a valid assessment.
• Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow program direction as provided by teachers and administrators.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and support students with daily living activities.
• Proficient in organizational skills.
• Must be punctual in reporting to work and for assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist the licensed teacher with instructional reinforcement and accommodations and manage student progress in the classroom.
• Assist with data collection and behavior management techniques.
• Support student learning with academics, social/emotional needs and interpersonal skills.
• Implement district policies and procedures including emergency procedures, data collection, and positive behavior supports.
• Reinforce instruction through small group or individual activities.
• Be flexible with schedule changes and student assignments.
• Supervise and assist students during lunch, arrival and departure.
• Maintain respect and confidentiality for students, staff and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
