Job summary

Santa Fe South Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role involves assisting in classrooms, implementing IEPs, collecting progress data, and promoting independence.

Responsibilities include working with students requiring behavioral support, personal care tasks, and documentation. The position emphasizes dignity, safety, and collaboration with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Meet the requirements of a special education paraprofessional under Title I.
• At least 48 college hours completed or an associate’s degree or higher.
• WorkKeys/Parapro/OGET may be obtained after hire.
• CPR and First Aid training may be obtained after hire.
• Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens training may be obtained after hire.
• Additional 6 hours of professional development in Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens each year may be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction of special and general education teachers and related staff.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and monitor student progress through data collection.
• Provide support for individuals or small groups inside/outside the classroom to enable full participation.
• Work with students needing behavioral support and document as requested.
• Assist with personal care needs (lifting, feeding, toileting) as required.
• Promote student independence and self-advocacy skills.
• Attend staff and team meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
