Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Western Massachusetts is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with moderate to severe needs. You will work with a small caseload, under the supervision of a lead special educator, helping implement academic and behavior intervention systems and drive student achievement.

You will tutor daily, communicate with families and colleagues, and help students meet state and district standards.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong public speaking skills.

  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom.
  • A high-school diploma or GED; and
  • 60 credit hours of college coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro/WorkKeys.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a must by first day of employment.
  • Passing scores on Work Keys in Reading:5, Math:4, Writing:3

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside an experienced special educator to support a small caseload of students, driving academic achievement.
  • Implement an effective, rigorous academic and behavior intervention system with a small caseload of students.
  • Provide consistent and high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Support student mastery of state, city, and school standards.
  • Lead daily individual and small group tutoring sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
