Job summary

Logan River Academy LLC in Utah is seeking a Para Professional - SPED to support students under the teacher's direction, implement de-escalation, collect behavior data, and assist with transition duties from dorms to classrooms.

The role emphasizes 1:1 instructional support, safety, and collaboration with staff to maintain a structured learning environment and to help meet each student’s academic and behavioral plans.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; BS preferred.
• Knowledge of human behavior and psychology is useful.
• Strong oral and written communication skills (verbal and written).
• Telephone, computer, and face-to-face customer service skills.
• Experience working with students in a school setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Implement the school’s positive behavior management plan with fidelity.
• Become knowledgeable of and implement behavioral management strategies to support students emotionally and behaviorally.
• Implement student’s behavioral management plan (BIP); maintain a student data record.
• Maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment by setting limits with a patient and therapeutic tone.
• Provide 1:1 instruction and academic support for students.
• Monitor student movement between/during classes, for scheduled therapy sessions and during lunch.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications and/or TA training.
• Give feedback to teachers on student work.
• Respond to direct requests or questions from clients in a timely manner.
• Maintain composure during stressful interactions.
• Keep commitments extended to clients or customers.
• Collaborate with staff to improve service delivery or Academy operations.
• Support the Academy’s safety and security program and community relations efforts.
• Participate in internal Performance Improvement program.
• Demonstrate ability to intervene and communicate appropriately with adolescents.
• Maintain appropriate boundaries with students.
• Keep annual in-services up to date.
