Job summary

Alpine School District is seeking a Special Education Para-Educator II / Pre School to support the instructional program under the supervision of a classroom teacher. The role involves assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in a self-contained classroom and implementing IEP goals.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 18+ years old; job-related experience is desirable. Hours are 6.25 per day (Mon-Thu) with an hourly rate of $17.67.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Assists students with self-care activities to maintain personal hygiene.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey information related to job functions.
• Attends job-specific trainings to acquire information related to job functions.
• Collects data to support teachers and prepare reports.
• Communicates with supervising staff to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP teams for students with behavior disorders under supervision.
• Maintains instructional materials and records for availability and mandated requirements.
• Monitors students for safety and positive learning environments in various school settings.
• Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
