Job summary

Alpine School District is seeking a Special Education Para-Educator II to support the instructional program under the supervision of a classroom teacher. The role involves assisting with supervision, care and instruction of students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms, and helping implement IEP goals.

The position is non-contract with 5.8 hours per day and an hourly rate of $17.58. Candidates should be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities to support objectives and IEP goals.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed.
• Assists students with self-care activities for personal hygiene.
• Attends job specific trainings for job functions.
• Collects data to support teachers in the classroom and preparing reports.
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff and support personnel.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP team under supervision.
• Maintains instructional materials and records for mandated requirements.
• Monitors students in various school environments for a safe learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for job functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
