Job summary

Washington County Public Schools in Boonsboro, MD, seeks a Paraprofessional for Special Education Itinerant Adult Support at Boonsboro Elementary School. 7 hours per day, 10-month year, starting hourly rate $19.26 with potential growth on the ESP Salary Scale.

Position supports students with IEPs and may relocate within schools as needed. The role reports to the BCBA Coordinator and requires CPI certification, plus experience with children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Highly Qualified status: AA degree, 48 credits, or Paraprofessional Praxis Test.
• Ability to attain CPI certification and use required methodologies.
• Two years experience with children or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds as needed.
• Strong reading, writing, arithmetic, and communication skills.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic, behavioral, and social skills.
• Observe, document behaviors to support data collection for behavior plans.
• Document data for progress monitoring and required reports.
• Assist teacher in devising strategies for reinforcement and instruction.
• Operate and assist with classroom equipment.
• Supervise and manage assigned students during instructional activities.
• Respond to behavior crises with verbal de-escalation and, if needed, restraints.
• Assist with personal care and physical management of students as needed.
• Follow through on individual programs designed by the teacher.
• Participate in team planning and training sessions as assigned.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
