Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Behavior Support at Thomas J. Elementary School. Grant-funded, 7 hours per day, 10-month year, starting at $19.26/hour with potential to reach $34.84/hour on the ESP Salary Scale.

Minimum: High School Diploma/GED, 2 years’ relevant experience, and Highly Qualified status (AA degree/48 credits or Paraprofessional Assessment Test). CPI certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• AA degree with 48 credits or pass Paraprofessional Assessment Test.
• Two years’ experience with emotional disturbance/behavioral issues or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills.
• Help students generalize social skills in general education settings.
• Participate in crisis response including verbal de-escalation and physical restraint when needed.
• Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention certification.
• Assist with planning and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Supervise and manage students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
