Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) required with one of: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom and prepare classroom according to student needs.
• Help with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and positioning.
• Assist with personal care and daily living needs as required.
• Support classroom curriculum and instructional activities.
• Assist with behavior management and safety in crisis situations.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development.
• Attend meetings and perform all other duties as assigned.
