Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking an SPED Instructional Assistant at North Canyon High School in Phoenix, AZ. The role supports special needs students in regular and self-contained classrooms, following IEP plans and behavior plans under supervision.

The position is 9 months, 6.75 hours per day, with benefits including ASRS and paid sick/personal time; other medical options may be available. Requires HQ qualifications and Parapro/WorkKeys assessments.

Qualifications

• SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adherence to safety practices, operating standard office equipment, and maintaining accurate records.
• Knowledge includes basic math, reading manuals, writing documents and presenting information clearly.
• Ability to schedule activities, gather data, and work with diverse groups in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under supervision to support objectives.
• Assists in monitoring student behavior and provides instructional support in various settings.
• Maintains student safety by accompanying and supervising during transitions and gatherings.
• Implements behavior plans under teacher guidance to reinforce learning concepts.
• Documents instructional materials and records to meet mandated requirements.
• Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce IEP objectives.
