Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking a SPED Instructional Assistant for North Canyon High School in Phoenix. This 9-month position supports SPED students in regular and self-contained settings with IEP implementation, safety, and behavior monitoring.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and one of several qualifying options; PARApro/ETS or ACT WorkKeys may be accepted. Benefits include ASRS and sick/personal time with optional medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED with one of the postsecondary options.
• Parapro assessments (PARAPRO/ETS or ACT WorkKeys) are required.
• Ability to assist students with personal care and behavior plans and to follow IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under supervising teacher guidance.
• Assist in implementing instructions and monitoring student behavior.
• Support medically fragile or differently-abled students with personal care as needed.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay updated on procedures and safety.
• Communicate with teachers, support staff and families regarding progress.
• Provide assistance to ensure safe and orderly transitions in and out of classrooms.
• Record instructional materials and maintain required documentation.
