Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV seeks a Lab Assistant to perform basic specimen processing, data entry and clerical tasks to support patient care. The position starts with day-shift microbiology training for 6–8 weeks, then moves to an afternoon shift 3:00 pm–11:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and WV PoC license; preferred phlebotomy CPT certification and up to six months of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• West Virginia PoC License required.
• Phlebotomy CPT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for basic diagnostic procedures.
• Operate laboratory equipment for testing and processing.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for processing and testing.
• Perform quality control of reagents and equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as directed.
• Report test results with accuracy and timeliness.
• Communicate unusual supply usage or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Perform clerical duties to support laboratory operations.
