Job summary

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to join the General Laboratory. The role features an evening shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00pm–11:30pm, with every other weekend and 2–3 holidays per year.

Candidates must have an associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or health science, or a HS diploma with five years of specimen processing experience in a similar hospital system.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required.
• High School diploma with at least five years of specimen processing experience in a similar hospital system acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips.
• Print and affix identification labels to incoming patient specimens.
• Prioritize work to meet stat turnaround times and deliver samples to the correct lab section.
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel on delivery.

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to work in the General Laboratory. The work hours are evening shift, Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm. This position requires every other weekend and 2-3 holidays per year.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required or a High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from similar hospital system.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.48 - $28.24 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
