Job summary

Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, is seeking a Lab Registrar for the BMC Lab Operations to accurately register and process specimens from outside accounts, ensuring correct patient demographics, insurance data, and test ordering.

This role coordinates specimen handling, labels tubes, organizes transport, and acts as a liaison with outreach accounts while maintaining high accuracy and supporting education of medical technology students.

Qualifications

• Admitting and laboratory registration experience preferred.
• One year experience in a hospital environment preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance information preferred.
• Familiarity with ordering lab tests preferred.
• Experience processing specimens in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register and process laboratory specimens from outside accounts or entities.
• Coordinate and process all specimens with accurate patient information and test ordering.
• Label tubes and organize transport of specimens to involved departments.
• Serve as a laboratory liaison between outreach accounts.
• Teach medical technology students how to process specimens and use computer systems.
• Maintain accuracy and efficiency under stress while ensuring patient safety.
