Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a Specimen Processing Services Specialist I to join the South Lake Union campus on a full-time, on-site basis. You will perform specimen processing, venipuncture, and related duties, while learning clinical software and maintaining timely communication with patients and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic medical terminology knowledge, ability to lift 25 lbs, and accurate data entry.

Qualifications

• Required: High school graduation or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Proficient in email and Windows-based data entry.
• Color vision screen required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing of blood specimens.
• Performs venipuncture phlebotomy on patients, donors, research participants and employees.
• Learn computer skills and use clinical software.
• Processes specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and sending to processing sites.
• Participates in Quality Improvement/QA programs.
• Record variances in Patient Safety Net.
• Schedule blood draw appointments and assist on-site as needed.
• May cover alternate shifts or weekends.
