Job summary

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Specimen Processing team in Houston. The role involves performing and evaluating tests, troubleshooting equipment, validating new methods, and supporting lab software implementations to ensure accurate patient results.

Responsibilities include contributing to quality programs, IQCP compliance, and mentoring students and staff.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR Bachelor's degree in a related science field or Molecular Genetic Technology OR completion of a NAACLS-accredited program.
• Preferred certifications: ASCP Technologist/Scientist/Specialist, CHS, CHT, MDT.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate testing in a high-complexity laboratory setting.
• Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment and validate new methodologies and tests.
• Support implementation of new software and laboratory technology; participate in IQCP and quality checks.
• Assist in Call Center duties including communicating results and test requirements to internal and external customers.

Education

Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology

Bachelor's Degree in a related science field

NAACLS accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology program
