Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Specimen Management Tech in the Specimen Processing department. The role involves accurate patient registration, data entry of testing orders and billing information, and preparing samples for testing within the hospital, pathology, and/or lab systems.

Primary duties include data entry, labeling samples, and ensuring proper specimen handling. The position requires good computer skills and the ability to work with physicians and lab staff.

Qualifications

• Data entry and labeling of laboratory samples accurately.
• Laboratory sample preparation for testing.
• Familiarity with HIS/LIS systems and general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs data entry and labeling of laboratory samples accurately and timely.
• Prepares laboratory samples accurately and timely for laboratory testing.
• Operates imaging system and retrieves requisitions as requested or maintains manual filing for requisitions.
• Maintains knowledge of HIS and LIS computer systems and navigates common operating systems.
• May perform limited training as requested.
• Communicates effectively with floors and physicians regarding test orders, results, and labeling issues.
• May transport specimens to department and prepare paperwork for transfer/testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
