Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Specimen Management Tech at Rochester General Hospital to support accurate patient registration, data entry of testing orders and labeling of specimens for testing. You will prepare samples, triage as needed, and maintain HIS/LIS systems while coordinating with floors and physicians to ensure timely results.

This full-time role requires 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts (10:00a–6:30p) and weekends/holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess data entry and communication skills.
• Experience with medical terminology and billing issues preferred.
• Enrollment in a Medical Technology program for interns.

Responsibilities

• Performs data entry and labeling of laboratory samples accurately and timely.
• Prepares laboratory samples accurately and timely for laboratory testing.
• May operate imaging system and retrieve requisitions as requested.
• Maintains knowledge and competency of HIS and LIS computer systems.
• May perform limited training as requested.
• Communicates effectively with floors and physicians regarding testing and labeling.
• May transport specimens to department or reference labs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
