Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Specimen Management Tech for the Rochester Regional - Elmgrove location. The role involves accurate data entry, labeling, and preparation of laboratory specimens for testing, with responsibilities spanning data systems and coordination with clinical staff.

The position requires effective communication, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

Ability to understand written instructions and transmit information accurately.
Data entry and computer skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology and billing issues preferred.
Enrollment in a Medical Technology program for intern track (if applicable).

Responsibilities

Performs data entry and labeling of laboratory samples accurately and timely.
Prepares laboratory samples accurately and timely for laboratory testing.
May operate imaging system and retrieve requisitions as requested or manage a manual filing system for requisitions.
Maintains knowledge and competency of HIS and LIS computer systems.
Has working knowledge of common operating systems and navigates them appropriately.
May perform limited training as requested.
Communicates with floors and physicians regarding testing, results, and sample requirements.
May transport specimens to department.
May prepare specimens and paperwork for transfer and testing in other departments or reference labs.
For Medical Technology Student Intern only: perform simple procedures under supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
