Job summary

Rochester General Hospital is currently seeking a Specimen Management Tech to join the Laboratory - Specimen Processing team in Rochester, NY. The role emphasizes accurate patient registration, data entry of testing orders, and proper labeling and preparation of laboratory samples for analysis.

You will work with HIS/LIS systems, communicate with floors and physicians, and support shipping and receiving of specimens.

Qualifications

• Data entry and billing knowledge preferred.
• Medical terminology understanding.
• Enrollment in Medical Technology program for interns.
• Ability to understand written instructions and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Enter data and label laboratory samples accurately and timely.
• Prepare samples for testing and may assist with imaging retrieval.
• Maintain and navigate HIS/LIS systems.
• Communicate results, requirements, and labeling issues with floor staff and physicians.
• May transport specimens and assist with paperwork for transfers.
