Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Specimen Management Technician at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY. You will ensure accurate data entry, sample preparation for testing, and effective communication with clinical staff.

The role includes operating imaging or requisition retrieval as needed, maintaining HIS/LIS knowledge, and handling labeling with precision. Training may be provided for interns and other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Must understand written instructions and communicate information accurately.
• Data entry and computer skills required for labeling and tracking samples.
• Medical terminology knowledge and billing issues understanding preferred.
• Interns must be enrolled in a Medical Technology program.

Responsabilités

• Performs data entry and labeling of lab samples accurately and timely.
• Prepares laboratory samples accurately and timely for testing.
• May operate imaging system or retrieve requisitions as requested.
• Maintains knowledge of HIS and LIS systems and navigates common OS.
• May perform limited training as requested.
• Communicates with floors and physicians regarding testing, results, and labeling issues.
• May transport specimens and prepare paperwork for transfer to other departments or labs.
• For Medical Technology Student Intern: perform simple procedures under supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
