Responsibilities

• Confirm and verify patient identification and update lab system accordingly
• Collect specimens using nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal, nasal, or throat swabs
• Explain collection procedures to patients and answer questions
• Store and prepare samples for transport
• Troubleshoot collection process issues and maintain safety protocols
• Travel to site locations within service area
• Set up and tear down testing sites at start and end of day
• Greet staff, patients, and visitors and maintain confidentiality

Job Summary:The Specimen Collection Specialist will be conducting specimen collection and processing activities by adhering to all laboratory established practices and procedures at designated collection sites. The Specimen Collection Specialist is responsible in maintaining a safe and professional environment for staff and patients.
