Job summary

Porter Pipe & Supply Company in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Warehouse Associate for Special Customer Orders to join our operations team. You will pick, load, and manage MTR production to fulfill complex, non-standard customer orders and ensure accurate, timely delivery from our Indianapolis location.

The role requires at least 2 years in distribution order fulfillment, proficiency with forklifts, cranes, and order picking, plus strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of picking, checking, and loading processes.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and sit-down/stand-up forklifts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer skills (web search, Microsoft Office, Xerox).
• Strong mathematical aptitude for order accuracy and measurements.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with office and operations teams.
• Commitment to safety standards and operational excellence.
• Willingness to complete onboarding ASA product knowledge courses.

Responsibilities

• Gather pipe fittings using forklifts, stand-up order pickers, and carts.
• Double-check order products and quantities for accuracy.
• Load materials safely according to customer specifications.
• Perform same-day customer deliveries using company vehicles (F-250 and F-550).
• Publish MTRs for fittings that require documentation.
• Support specialty order preparation.
• Follow departmental procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain adherence to company safety standards and guidelines.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
