Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Sonographer Specialty to join our team in a PRN role. The position emphasizes advanced diagnostic ultrasound and intraoperative procedures, with a focus on patient safety and high-quality imaging.

Qualified candidates will have graduation from an accredited sonography program, BLS certification, and 5 years of relevant hospital experience in specialized diagnostic sonography, with ARRT/ARDMS or RVT/RVS/VS credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• ARRT – RT(S) or ARDMS with two specialties OR RVT/RVS/VS credentials.
• 5 years of experience in specialized diagnostic medical sonography in a hospital/healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex and advanced specialty exams and intraoperative ultrasound-guided procedures.
• Identifies and manages clinical or emergent problems impacting exam outcomes, ensuring patient safety and diagnostic quality.
• Participates in healthcare-related community engagement events.
• Provides expert patient communication, ensuring understanding, comfort, and cooperation during procedures.
• Oversees proper use of EMR workflows, patient tracking, and documentation accuracy.

Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities

• Performs complex and advanced specialty exams, and Intra op ultrasound guided procedures, venous insufficiency studies, AV optimization.
• Identifies and manages clinical or emergent problems that may impact exam outcomes, ensuring patient safety and optimal diagnostic quality.
• Participated in some healthcare related community engagement event.
• Provides expert patient communication, ensuring understanding, comfort, and cooperation during procedures.
• Oversees proper use of EMR workflows, patient tracking, and documentation accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• License: None required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Candidates must possess at least one of the following credentials upon start:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – RT(S)
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonography specialties (e.g., OB/GYN, Breast, Abdomen)
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or Vascular Sonographer (VS)
• Experience: 5 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of Specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonography
