Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a dedicated Sonographer Specialty for a PRN role. The position involves assisting with TEE, fetal echoes, and AV optimization studies as per departmental protocols, while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety.

The role requires ARDMS with at least two specialties, BLS certification, and about one year of healthcare ultrasound experience. The selected candidate will support critical studies and deliver high-quality imaging outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• ARDMS with at least two specialties (e.g. OB/GYN, Breast).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• One year of hospital/healthcare experience in specialized diagnostic medical sonography.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in performing TEE, Fetal Echoes, and AV optimization studies using department protocols.
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to isolation precautions for specialty procedures.
• Identify clinical or emergent issues affecting exams and take appropriate action to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Demonstrate proper IV heparin lock and central line usage related to sonography.
• Perform IV contrast injections or test-enhancing solutions per Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography standards.

Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities:

• Assists physicians in performing TEE, Fetal Echoes, and AV optimization studies by using departmental protocols to provide optimum results.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterile technique and isolation precautions as they pertain to the various specialty procedures.
• Recognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of intravenous (IV) heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Sonography.
• Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test-enhancing solutions, in alignment with standards of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• License: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e. OB/GYN, Breast, AB).
• Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of Specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
