Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Sonographer Specialty for a PRN position. The role supports physicians in advanced cardiac and vascular imaging pending exams, following departmental protocols to ensure optimal results.

Ideal candidates hold an ARDMS credential with at least two specialties, BLS certification, and a year of hospital-based experience in specialized diagnostic sonography.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• ARDMS certification with at least two specialties (e.g., OB/GYN, Breast, AB).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• One year of hospital/healthcare experience in specialized diagnostic sonography.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians in performing TEE, Fetal Echoes, and AV optimization studies per departmental protocols.
• Maintains sterile technique and proper isolation precautions.
• Recognizes and responds to clinical or emergent issues affecting exams to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Understands IV heparin locks and central line usage in sonography contexts.
• Performs IV contrast injections per SDMS standards.

Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities:

• Assists physicians in performing TEE, Fetal Echoes, and AV optimization studies by using departmental protocols to provide optimum results.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterile technique and isolation precautions as they pertain to the various specialty procedures.
• Recognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of intravenous (IV) heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Sonography.
• Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test-enhancing solutions, in alignment with standards of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• License:American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e. OB/GYN, Breast, AB).
• Certification:Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of Specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
