Job summary

Inova Health is seeking a Sonographer to perform routine ultrasound exams and assist with venous studies and intraoperative ultrasound-guided procedures under direct supervision. The role requires graduation from an accredited sonography program and active certifications such as ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS with two specialties.

Strong patient communication, safety, and comfort are essential, as is proficient use of EMR for documenting examinations. Prior hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ARRT - RT(S) or ARDMS with at least two sonography specialties (e.g., OB/GYN, Breast, Abdomen).
• RVT/RVS/VS certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine ultrasound exams and assists with venous studies and intraoperative ultrasound-guided procedures under direct guidance.
• Explains procedures, answers patient questions, and ensures comfort and safety using proper monitoring, side rails, and equipment positioning.
• Identifies basic clinical concerns that may affect exam quality and promptly reports them to supervising staff.
• Uses the electronic medical record to track patients and document exam information accurately.

• Explains procedures, answers patient questions, and ensures comfort and safety using proper monitoring, side rails, and equipment positioning.
• Identifies basic clinical concerns that may affect exam quality and promptly reports them to supervising staff.
• Uses the electronic medical record to track patients and document exam information accurately.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• License: None required
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Candidates must possess at least one of the following credentials upon start:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - RT(S)
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonography specialties (e.g., OB/GYN, Breast, Abdomen)
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or Vascular Sonographer (VS)
• Experience: None

Preferred Experience:

• Sonographer experience in a hospital environment
