Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate in Equity Research for the Specialty Softline, Department Store, and Branded Apparel & Footwear team in New York City. The role focuses on building earnings and industry models, writing research notes, and presenting insights to investors.

You will collaborate with global teams, support institutional clients, and help interpret industry trends across retailers such as Lululemon, Nike, Macy’s, TJ Maxx, and Revolve.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in Equity Research, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and/or the retail industry.
• Experience utilizing Excel to build and/or maintain financial models; advanced proficiency.
• Experience writing in a professional capacity (e.g. equity research notes) and developing industry reports.
• PowerPoint skills are required; CFA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain earnings, valuation, and industry models using data analysis, accounting, finance, and economics.
• Write research reports for initiation of coverage and quarterly results; analyze industry trends.
• Collaborate with US and global teams on reports and presentations relevant across industries and geographies.
• Develop relationships with institutional investors and manage data requests and events.
• Adopt AI-enabled tools to accelerate research while maintaining rigor and verification.
