Job summary

Morgan Stanley in New York City is seeking an Associate-level Equity Research professional to join the Specialty Softline, Department Store, and Branded Apparel & Footwear team. You will build earnings, valuation and industry models and write research notes for coverage of retailers including major brands.

The role requires 3+ years of experience in equity research or related fields, strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, and an ability to deliver timely, data-driven insights under pressure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Equity Research, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or retail industry.
• Proficient in Excel for financial modeling.
• Experience writing equity research notes and reports.
• Strong PowerPoint skills for presentations.
• Retail sector experience and accounting experience are a plus; CFA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain earnings, valuation, and industry models leveraging skills in data analysis, accounting, finance, and economics.
• Write research reports for initiations of coverage, quarterly earnings results, company announcements, industry news, and themes.
• Collaborate with US & global teams on reports or presentations across sectors and geographies.
• Service and develop relationships with institutional investors and host events/calls as needed.
• Keep abreast of industry news and trends and analyze implications for covered companies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with investor relations and management of covered companies.
• Conduct industry diligence and primary research through surveys, calls, and channel checks.
• Assist internal sales and trading teams in timely analysis of sector news and stock movements.
• Adopt AI-enabled research tools while maintaining rigor and verification.
