Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a Pharmacy Delivery Services Liaison to safely and efficiently transport specialty pharmaceuticals to patients and staff. You will use logistics software to optimize routes, maintain custody of high-value medications, and ensure regulatory compliance in HIPAA, DOT, USP, and FDA guidelines.

You will assist the pharmacy team with information collection and patient education under pharmacist supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with good driving history.
• Two years of courier experience.
• Experience in healthcare logistics or transportation.
• Two years prior experience in pharmaceutical delivery, medical courier services, or handling high-value goods.

Responsibilities

• Collect and deliver specialty and home infusion pharmaceutical products to healthcare facilities, pharmacies, or patients’ homes.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations to limit drug diversion and verify IDs.
• Coordinate with pharmacy staff for daily delivery planning.
• Collect patient information including verification of recipient, signatures, and payment details.
• Follow HIPAA, DOT, USP, and FDA guidelines for pharmaceutical transport.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to collect prescription and patient information prior to dispensing.
• Ensure secure handling and transport to prevent loss, damage, or theft.
• Maintain a detailed chain of custody for all deliveries.
• Provide professional and courteous service to clients, patients, and providers.
• Offer medication counseling and educational materials when applicable under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Escalate issues to Director/Manager when unresolved or urgent.
• Handle customer complaints fairly and empathetically.
• Notify purchasing when supplies are needed.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance.
• Restock delivery and shipping supplies in the Pharmacy’s warehouse.
• Maintain records for delivered and mailed items and track owed medications.
• Ensure only authorized personnel access company vehicles during deliveries.
• Use logistics software to optimize routes and ensure handling protocol compliance.
• Identify and report field coordinate discrepancies as they arise.
• Weekend call may be required.
