Job summary

Brown University Health Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in advanced technical functions, preparing, formulating, and packaging medications and supplies.

Under supervision of the Pharmacist and guidance of the Technician Group Leader, you will collect patient information, process insurance and payments, perform benefits investigations, manage prior authorizations, and support patient care through SDPMP while ensuring HIPAA compliance and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent degree required.
• Completion of one to two years of college preferred.
• Maintains current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician licensure.
• Holds and maintains National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or has minimum one-year licensed technician experience and will sit for CPhT exam within first 6 months and maintain it within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits friendly, helpful customer service while interacting with patients and staff.
• Maintains pharmacy interdepartmental relationships for seamless patient care transitions.
• Responds to questions related to cost, availability, and refills; educates patients on SDPMP features and benefits.
• Collects and processes patient information for prescriptions and insurance, and inputs data into pharmacy systems.
• Assists pharmacists in identifying supplies and supports non-sterile compounding, purchasing, and dispensing operations.
