Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist to act as liaison between the specialty/retail pharmacy and prescribers, documenting, submitting, communicating outcomes, and appealing when necessary to obtain patient access to prescribed medications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of pharmacy-related experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Understand product and payer reimbursement landscape and prior authorization guidelines and processes.
• Collects and reviews all data needed for pharmacy and/or medical prior authorization approvals.
• Resolves insurance related issues, including PAs, and assist patients with various forms of financial assistance.
• Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers; resolves requests timely; escalates complaints as needed; maintains frequent contact with patient, provider and staff; clarifies prescription orders with pharmacist/clinician as appropriate.
• Serves as the direct patient and provider contact for pharmacy benefit information, clinical and program information.
