Job summary

Boston Government Services seeks a Specialty Mechanical Engineer to support the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. You will create design and procurement documents for glovebox systems, furnaces, high vacuum systems, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include build-to-print design, procurement documentation, and performing rigorous machine-design analyses. This is a fully onsite role with security considerations and a path to DOE clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• DOE Q security clearance (required or candidate consideration).

Responsibilities

• Engineering design tasks may include collaboration with designers to develop build-to-print design packages of custom, specialty equipment.
• Development of procurement documents such as equipment specifications, statements of work, and datasheets.
• Performing calculations and analysis associated with machine design including finite element analysis, structural and seismic analysis, ergonomic studies, kinematic calculations and heat transfer calculations.
