Responsibilities

• Product Knowledge: Demonstrate a deep understanding of various cheeses, including origins, flavor profiles, and pairings.
• Customer Assistance: Engage with customers to provide recommendations and answer questions about cheese selection, storage, and pairing ideas.
• Inventory Support: Oversee stock levels, placing orders to ensure the cheese section is fully stocked.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect and handle cheese products to ensure freshness, rotation, and safety standards.
• Display and Presentation: Arrange cheese displays to be visually appealing and organized.
• Sampling and Promotions: Conduct tastings to introduce customers to new products and encourage sales.
• Pricing and Labeling: Label products with pricing and information, keeping displays up-to-date.
• Collaboration: Work with deli and specialty foods team and suppliers to maintain a dynamic cheese selection.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Cheese Specialist to join our team. The Cheese Specialist will be responsible for managing the cheese section, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring high-quality products. The ideal candidate has a passion for gourmet food, extensive knowledge of cheeses, and enjoys sharing this expertise with customers to enhance their shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Knowledge: Demonstrate a deep understanding of various cheeses, including origins, flavor profiles, and pairings. Stay updated on seasonal offerings and new arrivals.
• Customer Assistance: Engage with customers to provide recommendations based on their preferences and answer questions about cheese selection, storage, and pairing ideas.
• Inventory Support : Oversee stock levels, placing orders to ensure the cheese section is fully stocked with a variety of popular and specialty cheeses.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect and handle cheese products to ensure freshness, proper rotation, and compliance with food safety standards.
• Display and Presentation: Arrange cheese displays to be visually appealing and organized, highlighting seasonal varieties and featured items.
• Sampling and Promotions: Conduct tastings to introduce customers to new products and encourage sales. Prepare samples in accordance with food safety regulations.
• Pricing and Labeling: Accurately label products with pricing and product information, keeping displays up-to-date and compliant with store policies.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with cheese, charcuterie, or in a specialty foods environment preferred
• Strong knowledge of different types of cheeses, flavor profiles, and best storage practices
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and inventory management abilities
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, lift and reach and perform repetitive motion
