Job summary

Tulsa Public Schools seeks a Specially Designed Instructional Coordinator to guide educators in implementing specially designed instruction district-wide. You will coach, mentor and develop teachers, promote evidence-based strategies, and ensure instructional fidelity to improve student outcomes for students with disabilities.

The role is grant-funded and contingent on grant availability; a Bachelor's degree in special education is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in Special Education (required at hire).
• Three (3) years of experience in special education, including implementation of specially designed instruction.
• Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing professional development.

Specially Designed Instructional Coordinator Tulsa Public Schools

Tulsa Public Schools’ existing salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or years of creditable service. Position Summary:

The Specially Designed Instructional Coordinator serves as a guide and resource for educators to effectively implement specially designed instruction across the district. This role emphasizes coaching, supporting, and mentoring teachers in the use of evidence-based strategies and curriculum to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The Coordinator works collaboratively with school teams and district leadership to ensure compliance, promote instructional fidelity, and enhance student achievement. This position is grant-funded; continuation is contingent on the availability of grant funding.

Key Functions:

• Coaches and mentors teachers in implementing specially designed instruction

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Valid Driver’s License required

Experience:

• Three (3) years of experience in special education, including implementation of specially designed instruction
• Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing professional development

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in Special Education (required at hire)
• Familiarity with federal and state special education laws and regulations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of specially designed instruction and evidence-based practices for students with disabilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
• Proficient in technology tools for education and data management
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with educators
• Ability to analyze data and use it to inform coaching and instructional decisions
• Open to change and applies critical thinking while developing solutions based on new guidelines, methods, and techniques
• Ability to manage both up and down and create buy-in from individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds
