Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in La Grange, Illinois. Full-time, day shift, with a focus on aseptic technique, instrument handling, and patient safety.

You will assemble instruments, assist surgeons, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards while maintaining strong collaboration with the OR staff. BLS certification is required; associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Technical or vocational training in Surgical Technology is beneficial.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification required or to be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and informs the circulating nurse during procedures.
• Maintains high standards for cost savings and containment.
• Assembles supplies, equipment, and medications prior to procedures.
• Supports satisfaction initiatives and maintains relations with physicians and staff.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects any breaks promptly.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures compliance with regulations.
• Supervises other team members and assists in orientation and training.
• Promotes a safe environment and responds to emergencies.
• Follows infection control practices and CDC guidelines.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and supports departmental standards.
• Provides assistance to the surgical team and supports turnover times.
