Job summary

Boyd CAT is seeking a Human Resources and Recruiting Specialist to lead recruiting efforts across our Louisville area. The role supports procedures, compliance, and employee data management while providing administrative and branch-level support.

The ideal candidate has HR or business background, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate sourcing, events, and intern programs. A hybrid work arrangement applies with occasional travel to branches.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team with changing priorities and demands.
  • Travel to branches or other locations as required; some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically and proactively recruit for technical and non-technical positions throughout territory.
  • Utilize in-person and electronic resources for recruiting efforts.
  • Coordinate community awareness activities to support staffing needs and brand identity.
  • Partner with marketing on electronic and social media recruiting efforts.
  • Schedule regular communications with management to update openings and events.
  • Work with managers on succession planning and intern/apprentice placement.
  • Increase technical career awareness through school visits and career events.
  • Attend recruiting events for apprenticeship programs and mentor employees.
  • Maintain internal postings and external postings; assist with applicant tracking.
  • Assist with pre-employment testing and post-offer requirements.
  • Provide support for employee relations and personnel records administration.
  • Create reports and answer routine employment inquiries.

The Human Resources and Recruiting Specialist develops and initiates employee recruiting; provides assistance with employee procedures, rules, regulations and compliance; maintaining employee databases, and providing administrative, team and branch support.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel to branches or other locations as required to perform assigned duties; some overnight travel required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strategically and proactively recruit for technical and non-technical positions throughout territory, develop strategies and new options for sourcing, recruiting, and selecting candidates
  • Utilize in-person and electronic resources for recruiting efforts
  • Coordinate and conduct community awareness activities to enhance company’s brand identity and staffing needs which include career fairs, open houses, community events, military recruiting events, conferences, etc.
  • Partner with marketing on electronic and social media recruiting efforts
  • Proactively schedule time for regular communications and meeting with manager to update on openings, needs, recruiting events and efforts, etc.
  • Work with managers on succession planning and intern/apprentice placement
  • Increase technical career awareness through school visits, career fairs, recruitment expos, FFA/SkillsUSA school events, etc.
  • Attend recruiting events for the ThinkBIG Program and other apprentice programs for the company; assist, coordinate and mentor employees within ThinkBIG and ThinkBigger training programs
  • Maintain internal position postings and external posting through the external website
  • Assist with applicant tracking system; screen, track, and coordinate applications and interviews as necessary
  • Assist in overseeing pre-employment applicant testing
  • Assist in administering post-offer, pre-employment requirements (drug screen, background checks, physicals, etc.)
  • Provide assistance in personnel administration matters to support company executives and managers in carrying out employee relations responsibilities
  • Complete post-hire governmental reporting requirements such as E-Verify, state employment reporting, etc.
  • Compile, maintain, and update highly accurate and confidential employee personnel records
  • Coordinate, execute, and audit all entry of employee information through Personnel Data System and any in house data base system
  • Administer the completion of all forms and paperwork required for new/current employee personnel files according to company standards and procedures
  • Create and compile reports as requested by management
  • Answer routine inquiries from inside/outside company for factual information on subjects such as, employment verification, and position openings
  • Train and serve as back up to other positions within the department - Maintain an understanding of the duties of other positions in department to the degree that basic job duties will be fulfilled if an incumbent is absent
  • Recommend to manager ideas to improve the departments operating procedures or business practices and participate in and support continuous improvement of all related activities and processes
  • Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner; display a professional attitude; comply with company dress code
  • Create and maintain good communications (verbally and in writing) and relationships with other Company departments, branches, employees, outside vendors, and customers by addressing and resolving concerns quickly
  • Follow all work, safety rules, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned
