Job summary

Lake Michigan College in Michigan is seeking a Part-Time Instructional Technology Specialist to support classrooms, software, hardware, and other computer systems, providing troubleshooting and remote assistance as needed.

Under supervision, you will be the first line of contact for faculty and students, handle tickets, document resolutions, assist with installation and upgrades, and help maintain inventory and technical documentation to ensure timely, effective service.

Qualifications

  • A+ or equivalent certification preferred.
  • General awareness of computer systems, PC repair, and network management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and diagnose basic technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line troubleshooting for classroom technology tools and software.
  • Assist with installing and troubleshooting classroom instructional technology tools.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance via phone, email, or service desk tickets.
  • Record events and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and determine best solutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on software installation and hardware configuration.

Job Summary

In a team environment, the Part Time Instructional TechnologySpecialist offers support and technical assistance to the Collegeclassrooms and end-users who are using software, hardware, or othercomputer systems and need help completing tasks or troubleshootingproblems through diagnostic tests and remote access to theircomputers.

Essential Functions
  • Provides first-line troubleshooting for all academic/classroom technology tools and software.
  • Collaborates with Institutional Design and Teaching Technology in assessing, installing, and troubleshooting classroom instructional technology tools.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone, email, or the service desk ticketing system.
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in the ticketing system.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical hardware and/or software issues.
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers.
  • Provide quick resolution, follow-up with customers, and excellent customer service.
  • Provide accurate information on IT products and services.
  • Redirect unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel.
  • Provide needed information on IT products or services.
  • Provide feedback on processes and make recommendations on areas to improve.
  • Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and upgrades for PC software.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of equipment and software.
  • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team.
  • To provide the best service to our external and internal customers, all positions at Lake Michigan College require regular and predictable on-site attendance as an essential job function. Other Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, IT Security &Operations, the Part Time Instructional Technology Specialistis accountable for the maintenance and support of classroom andonline instructional technology and providing training and supportfor faculty and students in the use of academic technology tools.the part-time helpdesk support technician also manages incomingrequests and creates solutions to unexpected problems. Theindividual will be heavily involved with day-to-day helpdeskactivities, including resolution of IT problems, answering call andemails, responding to incoming tickets, communication with IT staffand customers, and providing timely support to ensure timelyresponse within applicable SLA timeframes and appropriateresolution.

Job Specifications

Associate degree required, associate degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or Computer Science (CS) is preferred. A+ or equivalent certification is preferred. General awareness of computer systems, PC repair, and network management is required. Good knowledge of and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues. Hands-on experience with diagnosing and resolving basic technical issues. Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all levels. Proven communication, active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills required. Customer oriented and patient. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Salary Range: $17.25 - $19.42
