Job summary

Lone Star College-CyFair is seeking a Specialist III, Library Joint Use to assist students, faculty, and the public in obtaining resources and circulating library materials using automated systems. You will maintain patron records and provide information and directions as needed.

The role includes administrative duties, handling fines, documenting procedures, and supporting inventory and facilities checks. A high school diploma or GED is required, with some evening/weekend shifts possible.

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Specialist III, Library Joint Use assists students, faculty andthe general public in obtaining resources. Circulates librarymaterials and maintains patron records using automated systems. Mayperform standard and some advanced administrative duties, includingbut not limited to receiving and logging information, makingcopies, answering routine questions and inquires, providinginformation and directions, and providing a customer friendlyenvironment. Interprets and enforces established library policiesand procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Uses automated systems to perform circulation services
2. Provides information and assistance to library visitors,serving as public contact for the library in person, by telephoneand email, and referring patrons to reference librarians whenadditional assistance is needed
3. Participates in the development of documentation forcirculation procedures
4. Collects money for fines and updates patron records
5. Assists library patrons in the use of copy machinesInterprets and enforces circulation policies and procedures forthe public and for college staff
6. Participates in shelf reading, collection inventory project andfacilities monitoring
7. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

The workmay require specific, but not common, physical characteristics andabilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORKING SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS

• Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
• Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out thefunctions of the position
• Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience,or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree or higher

Salary

Hiring salary range is $33,540 - $38,571.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation.
