Job summary

Lone Star College-CyFair is seeking a Part-time Specialist III, Student Services to provide expert guidance across registration, admissions, academic advising and student records. You will help students navigate transferability and residency requirements while delivering information clearly and professionally.

Responsibilities include advising on financial aid, viewing degree audits, and supporting high school dual credit inquiries.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in student services or academic advising is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Assist students in processes relating to registration and admissions including academic advising on course transferability.
  • Provide advice and counsel in areas of expertise such as academic advising, financial aid, and student records.
  • Informs and orients students in order to help them succeed in college setting.
  • May advise high school students and parents on requirements for dual credit, admissions and determines exceptional admission.
  • May provide expertise to others in the processing of transcripts.
  • May analyze transfer coursework, accreditation, catalogs and numbering/grading systems to affect and maintain the Degree Audit system files.
  • May determine residency requirements.
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Job Description
Purpose and Scope:

The Part-time Specialist III, Student Services has in-depthknowledge of functions and processes throughout the scope of thespecialty area. This position acts a primary expert and providesadvice and information to others. Ensures that all College anddepartment policies and procedures surrounding assigned area areimplemented/carried out correctly by others. Primarily performsspecialized, specific functions requiring knowledge and experiencein a particular field, area or department function. Typical dutiesmay include information gathering and review, presentation ofinformation in verbal or written form, some interpretation ofinformation.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Assists students in processes relating to registration andadmissions including academic advising on coursetransferability
  2. Provides advice and counsel in areas of expertise such asacademic advising, financial aid, and student records
  3. Informs and orients students in order to help them succeed incollege setting
  4. May advise high school students and parents on requirements fordual credit, admissions and determines exceptional admission

Physical Abilities:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed tocarry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience,or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is 15.60.
