Job summary

  • Performs accurate data entry, adds/drops, and runs weekly reports on classes and financials.
  • Contacts prospective students before enrollment periods to assist with enrollment and payments.
  • Responds to inquiries submitted through the LSC website.
  • Coordinates with Financial Aid and the Business Office regarding financial assistance.
  • Promotes program awareness and opportunities at the location.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Specialist III, CE Advising is responsible for ensuring thatLSC students are served efficiently, with all, including advisingand registration. Authorizes and accepts DOT physicals and drugtesting for enrollment. Monitors, enrolls, and/or cancels classesand assists students with a variety of different sources offinancial aid.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Advises students on proper course selection and requirements,explaining the degree/program types and options that LSC offers, aswell as disseminating information to students about all theservices that are available on campus
  2. Guides, assists students, and answers their questions aboutonline enrollment and online payment processes
  3. Provides case management to assist students with completion ofthe program
  4. Remains knowledgeable about various student resources, toinclude but not limited to potential employers, fundingopportunities, etc.
  5. Functions as first response access point for all students;receives inbound calls from faculty staff, community members andstudents with Admissions issues, updating student accounts andregistration processes
  6. Performs accurate data entry including adding/dropping newstudents in system and correctly registering their classes; runsweekly reports on classes and students' financials to ensureaccuracy
  7. Reaches out to prospective students before each enrollmentperiod to provide assistance with the enrollment process, and mayassist in the payment process
  8. Responds to inquiries submitted through the LSC website
  9. Coordinates with Financial Aid, the Business Office, and otherLSC departments regarding student financial assistance andpayments. May keep track of students' financial aid status
  10. Promotes communication, program awareness, and opportunitiesthat the college provides related to programs at theirlocation
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
  • Position may be required to work schedules outside of corebusiness hours
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience,or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Salary

Hiring salary range is $33,540 - $38,571

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone StarCollege, the resume submitted in the application process will beutilized to calculate your salary offer.
