Job summary

Lone Star College-Tomball is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach LifePATH HRPO Business Courses at multiple times and locations.

You will create engaging lessons, promote student involvement, and submit required reports following established guidelines. The position is part-time and contingent on student demand with up to five classes per academic year.

We offer day, evening, and weekend classes across campuses and Centers of Excellence, with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Associate or higher degree in business, management, administration, or HR; or an MBA; or a bachelor’s degree with 18 grad hours in business/HR and 3 years nonteaching HR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach LifePATH HRPO Business Courses at various times and locations.
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Follow a course syllabus per established institutional guidelines.
  • Advise students before/after class or by appointment or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of progress promptly.

Job Description
Purpose and Scope

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide thelearning activities and support that will lead to the achievementof the course objectives and contribute to the educationalenvironment of the college and the community. Primaryresponsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within thecurriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College accepts application material year-roundfrom qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis.Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. Weoffer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered atvarious times and locations during the academic year. As a rule,adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academicyear.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Teaches lifePATH HRPO Business Courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement andapplication of the material.
  3. Submits required college reports and forms in a timelymanner
  4. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, followingestablished institutional guidelines
  5. Meets with and advises students either before or after class orby appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriatemethods
  6. Evaluates students to measure their progress in achievingcourse objectives and informs students in a timely manner of theirprogress
  7. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues,and the community
  8. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; ability to workeffectively with a wide variety of people, including neurodivergentpopulations
  • Mastery of course content and willingness to learn andimplement best practices for teaching neurodivergent collegestudents

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within thediscipline/industry
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Class schedules will be offered in a blocked format anddeveloped for convenience of the students
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, management,administration, or human resources; or an MBA; or a bachelor'sdegree or higher in any field with 18 graduate hours in business,management, administration, or human resources; and 3 yearsnonteaching work experience in human resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education or related field
  • Experience implementing Universal Design
  • Experience working with neurodivergent individuals
Salary

$56.55 per contact hour.
