Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City is seeking a Collections & Accounts Receivable Clerk for a full-time, Monday–Friday daytime schedule. You will manage accounts receivable for program activities, follow up with customers on payment information, and ensure accurate recording of payments.

Responsibilities include invoicing, aging analysis, journal entries, GL reconciliations, and audit support.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers to address payment inquiries and follow up on past-due accounts.
  • Prepare and send monthly invoicing for all program departments and agencies.
  • Monitor aging reports to identify overdue balances and follow up on payments.
  • Record payments in the appropriate information systems and designate receipt type.
  • Prepare and analyze general ledger reconciliations including bank accounts.
  • Cover duties of other team members within accounting.
  • Prepare audit support schedules and assist with related projects.

This individual will spend most of their time following up with customers who need to update their payment information and those with past-due accounts.

The Collections & Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for organizing and managing the accounts receivable functions related to specific program activities and ensuring that all payment receipts are accounted for timely and accurately. This individual will spend most of their time following up with customers who need to update their payment information and those with past-due accounts.

Schedule
  • Full-Time, Monday-Friday daytime hours, scheduled 40 hours per week

Essential Functions
  • Utilize effective communication skills to interact with customers, address payment inquiries, and follow up on past-due accounts.
  • Prepare and send monthly invoicing for all program departments and agencies.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports to identify outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Determine proper designation for receipt of checks and electronic deposits to make sure that all payments are properly recorded in the appropriate information systems.
  • Process manual journal entries into the general ledger accounting system.
  • Prepare and analyze general ledger account reconciliations which includes both bank accounts and other accounts.
  • Cover duties of other team members within the accounting department.
  • Prepare appropriate audit support schedules.
  • Assist with other projects as requested.

Physical Requirements

This position primarily works in an indoor, office, and desk environment. The job involves constant sitting (though standing up as desired is also an option), repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination to operate computer, mouse, keyboard or similar equipment for data entry and related daily work. Also includes frequent talking and hearing to communicate ideas with coworkers.
