Job summary

Southco is seeking an Automation Technician to operate an automation cell of up to five machines, troubleshooting and solving issues to keep production at peak efficiency. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, mentoring others, and reading blueprints.

A two-year technical degree is preferred, with at least two years of automation experience. Responsibilities include collaborating with production management, performing advanced debugging, and ensuring quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple automated machines within the automation cell, up to 5 concurrently, ensuring production rates meet OEE and productivity goals.
• Collaborate with production management to resolve manufacturing problems (setup, machine, electrical issues).
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of machine malfunctions, diagnose, test, and recommend operational improvements.
• Respond to emergencies to keep production running and service customers.
• Conduct preliminary evaluation and escalate issues as needed.
• Assist in design concepts for new automated equipment.
• Perform quality checks on electronic systems, track trends and report production transfers.

Job description

The successful Automation Technician will have experience working with high production automation equipment; Candidate should possess above average mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and be experienced with root cause problem solving methods. The candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to work well under pressure while effectively running a cell of up to 5 automated machines. This position works to ensure all production requirements are met on a daily basis and equipment is running at peak performance. Candidate should be fluent in Microsoft applications with the ability to train, mentor and develop others. Candidate should possess strong continuous improvement focus and mindset.

What you will be doing

• 1.Sets up and Operates Multiple Automated Machines within the Automation Cell, run up to 5 machines concurrently with no supervision. Assure all equipment is running to quoted production rates at all times to achieve facility OEE and Productivity Goals.
• 2.Work directly with production management on a daily basis to solve immediate manufacturing problems. Such problems could include set-up procedures, machine problems, or electrical problems..
• 3.Perform Advanced Troubleshooting of machine malfunctions and corrects malfunctions Diagnose, test, and debug complex equipment, and include recommendations for operation.
• 4.Respond to emergency situations that affect production capabilities and react to get things running and allow us to service our customers.
• 5.Conducts preliminary technical evaluation and troubleshooting of equipment or process malfunctions; escalates problems to appropriate persons when needed.
• 6.Assist in the design and concepts for new automated equipment.
• 7.Performs quality checks in electronic system, evaluates trends and outliers, accurately reports production, and material transfers.
