Position Purpose
The Special Services Technician is responsible for evaluating and administering special services for residential and commercial properties to include mold abatement, air duct cleaning, rodent exclusion, dehumidification, disinfecting, insulation, or reconstruction services. The position provides the vital link between the company and clients through exceptional customer service, helping people solve pest challenges and improve environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administers contracted services for customers, including mold abatement, air duct cleaning, rodent exclusion, dehumidification, disinfecting, insulation, or reconstruction services.
- Accurately completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Communicates with customers to ensure satisfaction and discuss additional services.
- Builds long‑term relationships by offering customized solutions.
- Partners with Wildlife Services technicians for wildlife trapping, removal, exclusion, and preventative services.
- Partners with canine handlers for bed bug evaluation and services.
- Performs damage repair services resulting from wildlife or other infestations.
- Seeks to solve existing pest problems and recommends corrective and preventive measures.
- Operates and maintains service vehicles and equipment.
- Builds customer relationships through friendly, helpful, and courteous behavior during visits.
- Gains and maintains knowledge of pest control and special services through paid training.
- Stays current on latest developments, trends, technology, and regulations in the pest control industry.
- Participates in employer‑provided training on new methods, products, and services.
- Obtains and maintains required licenses and certificates funded by JP McHale.
- Maintains proficiency in all organizational safe‑working policies and practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Possesses a valid NY State driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Handyman and basic carpentry skills, including window replacement, vinyl/aluminum siding installation, and handling aluminum break.
- Comfortable working at heights on ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with PestPac software is a plus.
- 0+ years background in pest control, termite, and/or wildlife control.
Physical Activities and Requirements
Frequent use of wrists, hands, fingers, and arms for reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50–60 pounds, with heavier weights using proper equipment. Requires average hearing, speaking, and visual acuity and ability to perform repetitious duties for long periods. Must be able to climb ladders and navigate attics and crawl spaces.
Working Conditions
Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to pesticides, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May encounter cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather, and allergens such as mold, dust, pets, pollen, and others.
