Job summary

Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX seeks a Special Procedures Technician (PRN) to assist physicians with evaluating patients, monitor risks, and label and process radiographs. The role involves angiography-related procedures, contrast administration under physician direction, and participation in quality assurance within the lab.

Ideal candidates hold ARRT-R and RT credentials with an Associate Degree; Neuro IR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• ARRT-R Radiography credential.
• RT Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer credential.
• Associate Degree required.

Responsibilities

• Completes assignments in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and etiquette with physicians and staff.
• Demonstrates appropriate communication skills.
• Demonstrates competency in radiation protection for patient and staff.
• Identifies anatomical orientation on images and ensures proper patient ID.
• Ensures patient safety with restraints and support devices.
• Demonstrates contrast injection procedures.
• Demonstrates PICC line insertion/removal procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in radiology lab techniques.
• Demonstrates competency in angiographic protocols, digital imaging, vascular interventional procedures, catheters, and patient education.
• Demonstrates knowledge in intracranial angiography, extracranial angiography, and neurologic embolization.
