Job Summary and Qualifications
Responsible for diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast‑enhanced radiographs of blood vessels to aid physician in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Operates fluoroscope to aid physician in viewing the image of the guide wire or catheter through the blood vessel to the area of interest. Fills automatic injector with contrast media, sets flow rate, and activates injection of contrast media into the blood vessels of the patient, as directed by the physician. Monitors the video display of the area of interest and adjusts density and contrast to obtain optimum exposure and starts filming sequence. Assures that sterile or non‑sterile supplies such as contrast materials, catheters or other required equipment are present and in working order or requisitions materials.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates competence in all areas of special procedures: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and surgical assistance.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and adult patients.
- Ensures efficient workflow in the Special Procedures Department by getting patients started on time and keeping room turnaround time to a minimum.
- Responsible for proper use of the computer system (scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).
- Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks. Maintains order and cleanliness. Always practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of existing IVs; may be responsible for injecting specific medication under the direction of the physician.
Additional Job Functions
- May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non‑controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Will integrate current scientific knowledge and technology into work practices, play an active role in the orientation and training of new employees and students, and participate in continuing education provided to the department during work hours. The technologist will complete the yearly Job Skills/Competency Checklist.
- Maintain professionalism and communicate technical and general information. Display consideration to peers, medical personnel, and customers, and promote a positive image in daily professional activities. The technologist will maintain a clean, stocked, orderly work area.
- All employees shall facilitate and participate in the Radiology Department CQI monitoring and implement changes accordingly. Employees shall assist in data collection, review and revision of the CQI program to stay compliant with accrediting agencies, hospital goals, departmental policies and procedures.

- Must learn and comply with system and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.

- Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Hold ARRT-R (Radiography) certification and RT (Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer) certification.
- High School Graduate or GED.
