Job Summary
Performs all duties and responsibilities of a Special Procedures Technologist. Ensures efficient use of resources while maintaining quality imaging procedures. Practices radiation safety and observes universal precautions at all times. Performs related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes appropriate resources to complete assignments within allocated time.
- Adapts to changes in volume/acuity demands and remains calm in crisis situations.
- Adheres to attendance and tardiness policy and reports to work on time.
- Supports responsible staffing decisions and serves as a resource effectively to units and other departments.
- Reports equipment malfunctions and completes work orders correctly.
- Assures a safe and clean environment, keeping hallways clutter‑free and rooms neat.
- Consistently strives to improve performance, makes suggestions, and is receptive to new ideas.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient and other information, gives accurate and concise reports.
- Interacts with patients, doctors and visitors with grace and tact, gaining patient/family confidence.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, unit orientations, preceptorships, hospital and department committees, and mandatory in‑services.
- Communicates with patients about procedures, answers questions, and ensures patient rights and privacy are maintained.
- Performs reconstructions/3‑D imaging, post‑procedure imaging, and ensures proper sterile techniques during interventional procedures.
- Maintains ARRT licensure and continuing education credits.
- Operates power injector safely and efficiently and performs all exams within allocated timeframe.
- Enter charges for exams in RIS (Meditech) promptly and takes call as assigned by Lead Technologist.
- Requires minimum supervision.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA‑approved program.
- Registered with ARRT.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross (AHA and military certifications accepted) upon hire.
- Ability to perform Special Procedures following accepted standards and protocols.
- Competency in IV access and contrast administration.
- Competency in operating the power injector safely.
- Knowledge of radiation safety, universal precautions, and sterile techniques.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
