Job summary

Qualifications

• Ride a school bus for exceptional children and assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline while the bus is in operation.
• Operate the mechanical lift and adapt equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist exceptional children on and off the bus and escort them safely across streets on return home.
• Operate equipment including wheelchairs, tie-downs, seat belts, harnesses and other adaptive equipment.
• Assist driver in ensuring seat belts and wheelchair clamps are secured as required.
• Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; coordinate seating as required by guidelines.
• Maintain proper records and documentation related to transportation and students.
