Job summary

Madison County Schools Transportation Department in Richmond, Kentucky seeks a Substitute Bus Monitor to assist special needs children during bus entry and exit, manage seating, and ensure safety under supervision of the Director of Transportation.

Responsibilities include escorting children across roadways, maintaining confidentiality, administering first aid as required, and reporting behavioral concerns to the driver. Requires completion of a bus aide training program and a 21+ age minimum.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety rules for transportation.
  • Basic first aid procedures and methods.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate student behavior on a school bus or other transportation equipment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Assist specialneeds student entrance of the bus.
  • Assist specialneeds student exit from bus.
  • Receive/deliver special needs student from/to the teacher/aid at the school.
  • Deliver and receive the child safely to and from the parent, guardian or person authorized by the parent in writing.
  • Special needs children who cross the roadway shall be escorted by the bus aide.
  • Special needs children shall not be left unattended at time of delivery.
  • If the parent/guardian is not present upon delivery, the child shall be taken to a prearranged location.
